Monday brought a new feeling: Game week.
The Chiefs are getting set for their first preseason game of the year on Friday night when they host the Arizona Cardinals at Arrowhead. Monday’s practice was about as feisty as we have seen so far up here at camp. No fights broke out but the players were as chippy with each other as they have been all camp long. In fact, with the Arizona Cardinals rolling into town for a joint practice tomorrow, many are expecting some fist to cuffs. Back up quarterback Brady Quinn says the timing is right to mix it up a bit on the field. In fact, he says Ryan Lilja is the most likely candidate to get into a scuffle.
The Chiefs and Cardinals will work together, but Arizona’s camp says they don’t want to scrimmage as they are coming off a game on Sunday night. We shall see what happens.
As for practice on Monday, the offense worked a lot on certain situations, one being the two minute drill and the end of games. A few hail mary passes were thrown, but none completed.
Tight end Tony Moeaki took the same stance as Jamaal Charles did on Friday. He is done talking about his knee. He is ready to go and finally showed signs in practice Monday.
As for the back up QB spot, well today it looked like Quinn is in the drivers seat. He was a much more accurate than Stanzi was on Monday, but if the pattern holds true, Stanzi should take snaps with the twos on Tuesday.
The Chiefs and Cardinals will take the field at 3:20 on Tuesday.
All for now…
