Josh Klingler: Just Win Baby comes to KC
You don't care, so I'll try not to.
I've heard it from you before, and again this week .. you just don't care if you hear from Chiefs players. In Scott Pioli and Todd Haley you trust .. and you don't need to hear from them or any of their players. Just Win Baby is back, this time in KC.
A majority of the fans that I've heard from whether on Twitter or via text, tell me that you don't care if any Chiefs players talk to the media or that Haley says anything as long as the team wins. This came to a head once again on Monday when we told you that neither Jonathan Baldwin or Thomas Jones were speaking to the press about their alleged fight and you were okay with no one addressing the issue and Haley treating the matter as 'family business.'
In a sense, I agree with you, it doesn't matter if guys talk and the most important thing is that they perform on the field. It's not their job to make my job and show more interesting, I get that, but it's also not that hard to give a little, or let their guys give a little, without releasing government secrets.
Contrary to popular belief, the media are not all looking for the negative stories and ways to 'get' the local team. In most instances it wouldn't be that hard to give a few answers. News Tip - Attacking even a negative situation head-on (example being Baldwin) makes it go away faster. Leaving it linger leads to speculation and probably a fair share of incorrect information. You don't have to be an open book, but at least providing real access on occasion to the book would be nice.
On the entertainment side I guess I've always thought you would want to get to know more about the players on your favorite team. I would think you the fan would want to see behind the curtain with your favorite players. Maybe I'm wrong.
Instead the scare tactics are in full force and players are muzzled and we aren't allowed to have you get to know them. That's a shame. I bet there's some interesting characters in that locker room, we'll never know .. and for many of you, I guess you don't care. It just a “media” problem. Remember that when you are trying to get us to get answers if things don't go well. Will you be okay with no one explaining themselves then?
