The double round robin is out with the Big 12 hoops slate now released with every team will play home and home, settling the league regular season title on the floor.
Just like when the Big 12 football schedule was released, it did not really hit me until I saw the slate in print. No more guessing as to if Kansas-Texas would come down to one matchup in Lawrence or Austin. Instead for KU it's a regular season finale at home against Texas on the final day March 3rd. I'm sort of surprised / disappointed that KU-MU isn't the finale.
Where I wish it was like football would be not having a postseason tourney. It would be bad for Kansas City I know (that's right $$), so I wouldn't wholeheartedly dump the tourney weekend, but it since it's an all square schedule, I just as soon have the regular season title really mean something.
Other key dates:
Kansas hosts K-State in Big 12 opener January 4
K-State then hosts Missouri in next game (back to back with KU & MU) January 7th
K-State home vs Texas Wednesday, January 18
Kansas at Texas Saturday, January 21
Missouri hosts Kansas Saturday, February 4
Kansas at Baylor Wednesday, February 8
K-State at Texas Saturday, February 11
Kansas at K-State Monday, February 13
K-State at Missouri Tuesday, February 21
Kansas at Texas A&M Wednesday, February 22
Missouri at Kansas Saturday, February 25
In the words of Bart Scott “can't wait!”
