Josh Klingler: First Prediction on the Chiefs Schedule

I cannot help myself. I know I shouldn't, but I can't help it. Every year at this time when the NFL releases it's schedule I knee-jerk react and pick the Chiefs won-loss record. It is foolish every year. We are not yet to the draft, labor issues have prevented free agency, we have no clue what will happen between now and September 11th … but …
On paper right now, I do not like the schedule. We knew the Chiefs opponents awhile ago but it did not sink in to me until the teams and dates were outlined on paper. It appears to be a brutal stretch in the back half of the season. Yikes. On paper as of today, and I hate this, I am picking the Chiefs to finish at 7-9. It is just the first gut reaction to the schedule, no deep thinking, no statistical breakdown, just filling out Ws & Ls.
I hope I am wrong, I hope there is no five game losing streak like I am pegging. I plead for there not to be a 6-3 start followed by a 1-6 finish. I am more than happy to be way off the mark wrong.
The five week stretch of five playoff teams looks to be the tell-all. I've got an 0-5 run there, but could trade losses for wins in the Steelers-Bears-Jets trifecta, which could drastically change the season. Add in a road win or two in the division and its a very good campaign. Don't hold me this, unless I'm right .. then still don't. No one wants 7-9.
