Josh Klingler: It's CFB time

Another season of college football is here, time for me to enjoy press box snacks and birds eye views, easily the best time of year.

The three locals embark on 2012 and I'll see how my crystal ball does this year. I'm still not good enough to even look at the spreads, just straight up.

#21 Kansas State hosts Missouri State Saturday 6pm. Bill Snyder v Terry Allen. Hmm.

K-State messed around in it's opener last year and what turned out to be terrific season could have been derailed against Eastern Kentucky as the Cats pulled out a 10-7 win.

I don't expect a slow start this year. I see plenty of Collin Klein and running mates not taking it easy this go round. Sorry but the wake up call happened in last year's opener. Cats 41-7.

Missouri hosts SE Louisiana, 6pm on 106.5fm. Hopefully we are the only ones thinking about the SEC opener next week vs Georgia at the Zoo. It's gotta be hard not to overlook the opener for what could be the biggest game ever, so far, in Columbia. Maybe I'm over hyping, maybe not.

The only things that need to be seen are a W and no OL injuries. It would be nice to see the start of a consistent QB James Franklin and some solid DL play. Tigers 38-13.

Kansas hosts South Dakota St, 6pm on 98.1fm KMBZ. The Charlie Weis Era / Dayne Crist Season get underway. The buzz you hear is actually surrounding football in Lawrence. They may be keeping it to themselves, but inside L-Town there's major anticipation.

I don't know exactly what to expect when I'm at KU Saturday, but I am looking forward to it. Weis expects his team to be much more competitive than some of the lopsided laughers we've seen the past two years. That would be a win. They may not win many more games, but they should be at least more watchable.

The Jayhawks should want to make a statement on Saturday against a lower level team who's talented QB likely isn't playing. It could be a good opportunity to see if the last ranked D of a season ago is a thing of the past. On O I think they'll score points. KU 42-17.
