Josh Klingler: There's Some Football To Be Played
It's really hard to talk about football in the wake of the “more than football” story that's mushroomed out of Penn State.
I'll make it clear as I've tried to on the radio, this is one of those stories that should shake priorities in order. We love sports, I work in sports, but stories like this make me realize, it's just a game.
So somewhat treading lightly I'm on to this week's picks, now 20-5 on the season (losing last week with Mizzou).
Missouri hosts #16 Texas. 11Am on 98.1fm KMBZ.
In a battle of two pretty solid run games, I guess we can at least expect a quick game right? It's a backs-against-the-wall matchup for Missouri if there's to be a bowl run.
I'm not a firm believer in Texas, I still think very overrated at 16 and a very winnable game for the Tigers. Yes, the same Tigers team that gave up a school record Baylor offensive performance last week.
Missouri 23 Texas 17.
Kansas hosts #25 Baylor. 1Pm on 610 Sports Radio.
RG3 is scary. Kansas D at times has been scary. There's no rational indication that anything KU does will slow down Robert Griffin and the Baylor offense and only Baylor's mistakes can keep this game in check.
KU will play the final home game of the season in Lawrence. I can't find any other thing that points in their favor except for an extra bounce they might get from senior day. I also remember last year's Baylor game.
Baylor 49 Kansas 17.
#14 Kansas State hosts Texas A&M. 230Pm on ABC.
Kansas State's gauntlet of fun continues with another huge offense coming to Manhattan Saturday. Kansas State has given up over 1000 passing yards over the past two weeks and now face a 500+ yard offense that will be less potent in the ground game with the loss of Christine Michael.
The Aggies have a terrible pass defense, which likely can't be exploited by K-State, but the Wildcats maybe can take advantage of some play action opportunities. And Collin Klein is coming off a career best 231 passing yards.
This has all of the makings of a shootout, so I've maybe undervalued the score. Both teams have lost two straight, but it feels like A&M is really going in the wrong direction.
K-State 35 A&M 28.
