Who Overplayed the Past Season?

Fescoe in the Morning looks at Chiefs players who exceeded expectations in 2017.

Fescoe -  While it wasn't a surprise to me, many believe Alex Smith exceeded expectations in 2017.  Quite honestly I knew the gunslinger would be good in 2017 but I didn't realize he would be THIS good and it started right away against New England.

The form, the vision, the ability to hit his guy in stride...that was the start to a wonderful season for #11.  And it continued from there.

A dart to Kareem Hunt.  He also killed the WORST narrative in the history of the NFL that he can't throw the deep ball.

And his teammates recognized his exceptional play this year

'Nuff said!

Kling - Harrison Butker.   There was nothing drastically wrong with Cairo Santos kicking ability, but he was injured.   So instead of signing a retread veteran kicker the Chiefs went for "a guy they liked in the draft" type guy and plucked him off the Carolina practice squad.   And guess what?   It worked, better than expected.  Buttkicker.com, as Andy called him, in just 13 games is all over the Chiefs record book.  (from Chiefs PR below)

Welch - Kareem "KADREAM" Hunt was a guy I got made fun of for hyping up in February of 2017 after the Senior Bowl. I got called a nerd. An idiot who over-hypes a MAC player before the NFL Draft. The Chiefs then selected Kareem Hunt in the 3rd round, and Hunt proceeded to WIN THE NFL RUSHING TITLE, barely beating out Todd Gurley and Le'Veon Bell.

I had high hopes for Kareem Hunt, but even I didn't see 1,327 rushing yards and 455 recieving yards coming. All Hail Kareem Hunt!!
