Awesome to see rivals play again

One of the biggest sports stories in the Kansas City are has taken us all by surprise. Many of us are still in shock. Is this real? Is this really about to happen? How did we get here? Yes, evidently the Kansas Jayhawks facing off against the Missouri Tigers in basketball is a reality. But with this reality, there are many mixed emotions amongst the two fan bases.

As opposed to talking about all the different range of emotions and opinions on this matchup between two schools and programs that don't like each other, I'll just keep it simple and speak about how I feel about this revelation. I love this. I'm happy that this is taking place. As a Kansas Jayhawk fan, I'm elated that the local schools are going to step on the court and do battle against each other. And happy that this game will benefit people in need. Doing charitable things always should make us feel better about what we do. Regardless if you like the reality. Regardless if you harbor ill will and negative feelings toward an old nemesis. I won't waste my emotions thinking about the negative. This is a positive thing.

I know, many will say why should Kansas play Missouri and give them an opportunity to have some sort of bragging rights against you? I don't look at it that way. This is a rivalry that fans love. I won't say that everybody loves it. But let's be honest, everybody cares about it in some way or another. Does it mean that this will lead to the two schools making this something eventually that we will see again? Well by the sounds of it from Coach Bill Self, don't count on it. He says this is not about Missouri but about having a charity game to raise money, the goal hoping to be $1 million dollars, for those negatively affected by the hurricanes that have been devastating to many Americans. Personally, I'll take it.

When it comes to the history of Kansas Basketball, it's unmatched. Missouri fans even understand that. But Missouri basketball fans also are excited about the history that this current squad could possibly accomplish with one of the most heralded recruiting classes they've had in some time. Cuonzo Martin is someone that fans are getting excited about. Even more so, Michael Porter Jr. is the player that all Mizzou fans adore. They are awaiting every single shot, highlight reel dunk that he gives them this season before he heads to the professional ranks.

Sprint Center is going to be alive. The crowd on both sides will most likely be going crazy. And it's only an exhibition. But so what, I just want to see ball. Do I want to see Jayhawks be victorious? Absolutely!! But in my opinion, there are no losers here. The people who benefit from this charity game are the real winners. And with that in mind, I want to thank Coach Bill Self for making that happen. Many would let their ego get in the way of doing something positive, but coach did not.
