Arkansas breweries a must for beer fans

Summertime is a time for great beer, let me correct that all seasons are good for beer.  I have become an avid craft beer drinker and of course have tried all the local Kansas City breweries and also all the other places I may go I always check out the craft beer scene including actually taking a boat to an Island in Rhode Island to drink at a brewery out in the ocean.  So to say I have an obsession with craft beer is an understatement.

Last weekend a friend of mine who is also a big time craft beer drinker recommended we go to the state of Arkansas and have a day filled with breweries so that is what we did.  Left Kansas City at 7am and headed to Fayetteville Arkansas to try out Saddlebock Brewery as our first stop before leaving after a quick beer and hitting Little Rock, Arkansas where I was able to sample 6 different breweries.  If you are a craft beer drinker I strongly recommend Fayetteville and Little Rock as a nice getaway from Kansas City that is an easy drive with great beer.  Below are some of the breweries that I sampled:

Saddlebock Brewery- Brewery- hours Sun-Thurs 11-9/Friday and Saturday 11-10

-Saddlebock is said to have more beer on tap than any other brewery in Arkansas and they also have an Airbnb on site to rent for the night if you want to make a day and night of the brewery (Strongly recommend this.

-Beer I had:

Lost Bridge Smoke (Smoked beer it’s a great concept that only few do well.  Can really taste the smokiness in the beer).

-Other breweries in Fayetteville and Northwest Arkansas

-Columbus House Brewery-Fayetteville, AR

-Apple Blossom Brewing Company-Fayetteville, AR

-Columbus House Brewery-Fayetteville, AR

-Core Brewing & Distilling Co.-Springdale, AR

-Fossil Cove Brewing Co.-Fayetteville, AR

-West Mountain Brewing Company-Fayetteville, AR

-Ozark Beer Co.-Rogers, AR

-Bike Rack Brewing Co.-Bentonville, AR

-Bentonville Brewing Co.-Rogers, AR

-New Province Brewing Co.-Rogers, AR

So as you can see I need to go back to Fayetteville because the only brewery I drank at was Saddlebock. But I did the most damage in Little Rock.

Started off at:

Diamond Bear Brewing Co.-Hours Mon-Thur 11-9/Sat 11-10

-Claim to fame winning Gold Medals at the Great American Beer fest and World beer cup.

Beer I had:

Pale Ale-smooth and refreshing.  This beer has won gold medals 3 different times.

Presidential IPA-Outstanding nice hoppy  IPA and a signature item at the brewery

Beers I had:

Common Sense-steamed beer like you find on the West coast.

Flemish Kolsch-being summer time I felt this would be a smooth refreshing beer and it was.

Blue Canoe Brewing Co.-Hours-Tue-Thur 4-9/Fri 4-11/Sat 11-11/Sun 11-8

Beers I had:

Wolfe Trail Ale-Their take on an Irish Red Ale-Smooth and a crisp finish

Other breweries in Little Rock that I did not go to but plan to the next time.

Damgoode Pies Brewpub-Little Rock,AR

Refined Ale Brewery-Little Rock,AR

Vino’s Brewpub-Little Rock, AR

The Water Buffalo & Buffalo Brewing Co.-Little Rock, AR

---I typically don’t like going to breweries that serve food because I like all their efforts concentrated on their beers but seemed like all of the breweries did have a food menu. One thing about Little Rock is we found a hotel downtown and then all these breweries were in walking distance which makes everything more fun. If you are looking for some places to drink some beer here are your spots.
