Three Things to Look For at OTAs

The Chiefs hit the field as full team for the first time this offseason as OTAs (Organized Team Activities) get underway.   Here are three things I'm looking forward to seeing as the Chiefs get underway with another step in their offseason.

#1 Patrick Mahomes -- you didn't see that one coming did you?   Mahomes was on the field a couple of weeks ago with the rookies, but of course we want to see him get a few reps with Maclin, Hill and company.    We are talking about practice, not a game, practice ...  but I still want to see him zip a few roll outs to some 1st stringers.

#2  the WRs -- throw and catch, it's about all we can expect to see at OTAs.   Tyreek Hill will look even faster when plays are run at practice speed.  Jeremy Maclin will hopefully be on the first step to a full bounceback.   Chris Conley and Jehu Chesson sightings would be nice.  It is year 5 of the offense, so you know what that means ....

#3  Kareem Hunt and the forgotten man Spencer Ware --

Ware, remember when he scored a TD in the playoff game?   Nobody inside KC really does either.   The national writers seem to have a greater appreciation for Ware than the local crowd seems to.   I'm looking forward to the combo with Ware and the rookie Hunt.   Hunt put up nice catching numbers last year in college, so we'll see how he handles the dump off in OTAs.

Notice not much to note on defense.  The way these practices are set up you just don't see a lot on the defensive side except for some brief 1on1 battles between the DBs and the WRs.  I really need to see Justin Houston run, jog, stretch, anything for some reassurance. Also as much as I'd like to pay attention to punter Will Monday, he still isn't beating out Colquitt the GOAT.
